Dine like a celebrity at your wedding

Ever wondered how celebrities cater for their famous pals at their weddings? Here’s a few of our favourite celebs and what they ate on their big days…

Prince William and Kate Middletonprince

In 2011 the nation witnessed one of the most talked about weddings in history. Onlookers gravitated together in London to be part of the big day. But what went on behind closed doors at the reception? Kate and Will went for classic British foods (how very royal of them!). 10,000 canapes were prepared by 21 chefs who used only British ingredients. Appetizers included pressed duck terrine, goats cheese and caramelised walnut roulades, miniature watercress and asparagus tarts, Scottish langoustines, Cornish crab salad served on lemon blinis, smoked haddock fishcakes, miniature Yorkshire puddings with fillet roast beef and savoury baked nibbles like cheese straws. And then was dessert: an opera cake, mini raspberry cakes, rhubarb crème brulee tartlets, passion fruit pralines, chocolate pralines and white chocolate ganache truffles. What did they drink? Pol Roger NV Brut Reserve Champagne, of course.

Paul McCartney and Nancy ShevellPaul McCartney and Nancy Shevell

Another 2011 wedding, Paul and Nancy wedded in London. The served a vegetarian menu starting with arugula and basil salad, closely followed by goats cheese polenta, savoury tarts, and dumpling. For dessert they indulged in an elderflower crème fraiche with mixed berries, which was brought out to accompany two Posh Pud Pattiserie made wedding cakes: one which was chololate, and an apple cake which was also vegan

In 2012, this beautiful couple got married in Italy, which proved to be the theme of their menu. Snacks included local specialities such as fava beans, artisan bread, lobster in turnip tops, mini caprese salads and chesses. A four course sit down meal was then served which included steak and sea bass. The dessert was affrogato, which is a scopp of ice cream topped with a shot of espresso.

Julia Roberts and Danny ModerJulia Roberts and Danny Moder

This pair tied the knot on 4th July 2002 at their New Mexico home. They followed a fourth of July theme, where guests grazed on burgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob. There was a total of five cakes, baked by Roberts’ friend, four of which were lemon and one chocolate and raspberry.

Anne Hathaway and Adam ShulmanAnne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

Anne and Adam married in 2012. They hosted their wedding rehearsal dinner at the restaurant Ventana in Big Sur. A modest 50 guests enjoyed a three course menu, that included organic beetroots, hand harvested scallops, Colorado grass-fed lamb, and a cheese course of Saint-Andre triple cream served with honey, along-side a coconut and ginger panna cotta. The menu at their eco friendly wedding followed a similar theme.

Beyonce and Jay ZBeyonce and Jay Z

The famous couple wed in 2008 and kept to a simple, family made menu. Both their grandmas made traditional Creole dishes that the couple enjoyed with their own families during their childhood.

David and Victoria BeckhamDavid and Victoria Beckham

Back in 1999, this famous couple married. Their wedding menu consisted of a red pepper soup starter, turkey breast and grilled Mediterranean vegetable for the main, and sticky toffee pudding (David’s favourite) for dessert. A simple menu, but one that would certainly please the guests!

The couple chose an Italian themed breakfast, and a Jamaican themes BBQ for the Sunday lunch after the big day. And if that sounds delicious, how does it sound when we tell you it was served by male models! With a champagne tower of 500 free-standing glasses, and a cake of 6 layers (all different flavours), this can certainly be marked as a lavish wedding.
